GARON
✦ The head of House Krakenburg. Garon possesses the major crest of Macuil, House Krakenburg's crest. He's the father of Xander and Camilla, among many (many) others.
✦ Prior to Garon becoming head of the house, House Krakenburg was a relatively minor noble house. They have a good deal of land and supposedly are involved in agriculture, but in truth they are involved in the research and development of weapons for the Empire.
✦ This wasn't a particularly successful field, which led to the decline of the house over the generations. By the time Garon took over, most people tended to forget about House Krakenburg's early contributions to the Empire. Garon planned to change this.
✦ He attended the Officers Academy, where he made quite a name for himself through high marks and exceptional battle prowess. After leaving, he went on to gain influence through battle as both a skilled commander and an unparalleled combatant.
✦ It's not clear how exactly he came into contact with Those Who Slither in the Dark, or how they ended up working together, but before long House Krakenburg was making progress in the development of magic and weapons, and that got the attention of House Vestra.
✦ It kicked off an on-again-off-again alliance between the two houses - Garon and Emeric barely get along on even the best days, but both houses benefit greatly from working together, so their alliance is a shaky one that only lasts as long as it serves them both.
✦ The Insurrection of the Seven was started by House Aegir, and Garon sat back and watched, taking no part officially, but secretly funneling money into House Aegir to push the coup to succeed.
✦ Garon is fully aware of everything that happened in the Kingdom as well, though wasn't directly involved in what happened to Edelgard or her siblings.
✦ Solon and Garon work together because Thales and Garon kind of hate each other. Camilla's kidnapping was in part orchestrated with Solon's assistance, and he was in charge of the experimentation on her and implanting her second crest.
✦ He's decided to cut House Vestra out entirely, though he hasn't made any open moves against House Vestra or House Hresvelg.

✦ Garon is some hideous combination of a Fortress Knight, a War Master, and a Warlock. He's incredibly strong physically, but he's also capable of using black magic. He doesn't usually fight with magic, however.
    ✦ ↑axes, ↑reason, ↑authority, ↑heavy armor | ↓bows, ↓faith, ↓flying

Appearance: Exactly the same as in Fates, lmao. Is this because he's a member of Those Who Slither or does he just look like that because he's evil??? The world may never know.

KATERINA
✦ The second child of a minor noble in the Alliance, Katerina attended the Officers Academy in the hopes of making connections to secure a stable future for herself. It was likely she would be married off, and she was far more interested in choosing her own future.
✦ She was very strong, but her parents were insistent on her returning home after school. She refused and ran away, escaping into the Empire.
✦ For a time she served as a mercenary, traveling through the Empire and picking up work wherever she could. This led her to Krakenburg lands, where she witnessed Garon brutally slaughter a bunch of bandits.
✦ It wouldn't be accurate to say it was love at first sight, but Katerina's all about strength, so she pledged her services to House Krakenburg quickly.
✦ Garon decided he liked her and chose to bring her back to the manor, where he more or less treated her as a girlfriend (without ever calling her that, of course).
✦ Katerina was certain she'd be married to Garon once she got pregnant, but he had several other women in the house... and Katerina wasn't the only one who would end up having a child with Garon.
✦ Though she was beyond frustrated with her situation, Katerina did like the comfortable life being one of Garon's women provided. All she had to do was prove that she - and Xander - were the best options to represent House Krakenburg.
✦ While her training with Xander could be strict, she was never cruel to him and she did love him. This didn't extend to any of Garon's other mistresses or their children - she was cold and rude to them at best. She often tried to keep Xander away from the other children so he would rely on her and her alone.
✦ Things exploded in a bad way when Garon hinted that he might consider choosing a different heir. Xander had taken to his lessons well, but he was too shy, too kind. Perhaps another one of Garon's children would be better suited to lead House Krakenburg... Katerina was obviously furious with this idea, and the target of her ire was Camilla. Since Camilla was closest in age to Xander, she figured that was the natural assumption, and she made a horrible plan to put an end to that.
✦ Camilla and her mother attempted to escape House Krakenburg with no idea about Katerina's plans. Katerina wouldn't let this happen - partially because of what they could expose about House Krakenburg to the world - so she attempted to strangle Camilla.
✦ In the struggle that followed, Katerina managed to kill Camilla's mother, and Camilla killed her in retaliation. Garon had the entire situation covered up, and allowed Camilla to be sent to House Gloucester since he felt he had no need of her.
✦ As far as Xander's aware, his mother was killed by an assassin - who was most likely after him or Garon.

✦ Katerina was a Paladin during her school days, but she didn't do any fighting after joining House Krakenburg. She was pretty good, and helped teach Xander how to use a lance and how to ride a horse.
    ✦ ↑swords, ↑lances, ↑riding | ↓axes, ↓brawling, ↓authority

Appearance: Medium height, with long blonde hair and dark green eyes. She looked a lot like Ingrid when she was younger, and she only grew more beautiful as she got older. She definitely looked like she could punch someone and kill them at her peak, but she wasn't nearly as toned by the time she died.

BEAUREGARD
✦ The leader of House Gloucester and Lorenz's father. Beauregard Edmund Gloucester is precisely what every noble should strive to be... or at least that's how he's been spinning it for Lorenz's entire life.
✦ House Gloucester has always been an important part of the Alliance, and over the years they've angled themselves to be sort of rivals with House Riegan. They cooperate, certainly, but House Gloucester is waiting for House Riegan to wane in power so they can take over as the most powerful family in the Alliance.
✦ Beauregard had hoped it would happen in his lifetime... but unfortunately he and House Riegan's heir were around the same age and attended the Officer's Academy together. House Riegan's heir was the leader of the Golden Deer, much to Beauregard's chagrin. Despite their differences, they came together to win the Battle of the Eagle and Lion and otherwise had a pretty good time.
✦ This is at least partially because Beauregard met his future wife at Garreg Mach. She was a minor noble from the Empire, and it was love at first sight.
✦ ...Okay, so it was love at first sight after she unseated him from his horse and very nearly beat him in the Battle of the Eagle and Lion, but the point is that they very quickly decided to be together forever after graduating.
✦ They were very young when they married, but it was a beneficial union for both families. Sure, it wasn't exactly a step up for House Gloucester, but Beauregard's father had died young and his mother encouraged him to follow his heart, so he went ahead with this anyway.
✦ While it isn't something he regrets, he does wishes he had waited and considered marrying someone who would have benefited House Gloucester more...
✦ Lorenz is their only child, and they have spoiled him terribly. Beauregard has certainly made sure his son is trained to handle the tasks of leading House Gloucester, along with leading the entire Alliance, since House Riegan seemed to have no heir. He was certain that Lorenz could finally push their house to be the most important within the Alliance...
✦ And then Claude von Riegan showed up out of nowhere. Beauregard was more mad about it than Lorenz, but he made no secret of this and more or less influenced Lorenz into believing that House Riegan is no longer fit to lead the Alliance and only House Gloucester can bring them to new heights.
✦ That's kind of a thing he always does, actually. He tends to play up his own importance and gloss over the more negative things. Beauregard is more cutthroat than he appears, and is willing to do all sorts of dreadful things if it means pushing his family further into power. As long as he personally doesn't have to get his hands dirty, he's fine with it.
✦ So he's more or less influenced Lorenz all along, though it hasn't all been intentional or trying to turn him against the other noble houses. He does love Lorenz and his family, he's just very political-minded and ambitious, regardless of what it costs everyone else around him.
✦ The Gloucester family is fairly large - Beauregard has plenty of uncles and aunts and siblings, which is where this whole mess with Camilla came from. When Camilla returned from House Krakenburg, Beauregard was very reluctant to take her in. She had nowhere else to go and only a letter from her mother, but Elaine insisted on allowing the poor girl to stay so he relented, but insisted she only remain on as a servant. He refuses to consider her family and constantly told Lorenz the same.

✦ Beauregard is a Dark Knight. He's pretty good on the battlefield, but rarely fights anymore. He's far more interested in politics than battle.
    ✦ ↑lances, ↑heavy armor, ↑authority | ↓brawling, ↓flying

Appearance: He's not exactly short, but he's nowhere near as tall as one would expect given Lorenz's height. He's very broad and surprisingly muscular for someone who doesn't care to fight, but it is important for a noble to keep up their appearance!! Beauregard has the Gloucester family's purple hair and eyes, though his hair is wavy and thick, and he sports a full beard and glorious mustache.

ELAINE
✦ The youngest daughter of a minor noble family within the Empire, Elaine was shipped off to the Officers Academy fairly young in the hopes that she'd find a suitable husband. Her combat prowess was of no concern to her family.
✦ So naturally, as soon as Elaine was out from their watchful eyes, she proceeded to do nothing but beat training dummies and classmates into the dirt. While she was never violent, her no-nonsense attitude and dedication to her training made her difficult to approach.
✦ During the Battle of the Eagle and Lion, she ended up going up against Beauregard. She managed to knock him off his horse, but he dragged her off her pegasus and managed to best her. It was amazing and she decided she'd marry him.
✦ They were wed not long after leaving the Officers Academy, which was a boon for her family. They were so pleased with the arrangement that they didn't even scold her for her continued insistence on fighting. She still handles conflicts in Gloucester territory when she can, because Elaine likes to throw down.
✦ Like Beauregard, she loves Lorenz. He's their only child and she pampers him endlessly. While Beauregard is the stricter parent, Elaine is a surprisingly good teacher. When Beauregard's lessons wouldn't stick, Lorenz would go to Elaine for help and she's managed to teach him well.
✦ She's aware of her husband's more unsavory practices, but as far as she's concerned, it's none of her business. While she is a member of House Gloucester, those sorts of dealings aren't hers to discuss or comment on, because her family trained her to be a good wife. (And also Beauregard lets her go beat up bandits, so it works out well.)
✦ Despite their differences and difficulties, she does love her family dearly. That's why she insisted on allowing Camilla to remain with the family, even though it isn't her place to get involved in Gloucester family politics. Beauregard has a hard time saying no to her, so that helps.

✦ Elaine is a Falcon Knight. She usually isn't required to fight, since she is a noblewoman, but she finds excuses to keep her skills sharp anyway.
    ✦ ↑swords, ↑lances, ↑flying | ↓brawling, ↓authority

Appearance: Elaine is very tall, she's absolutely where Lorenz gets his height from. Her hair is light brown and shoulder-length, occasionally kept tied back in a short ponytail. She's already starting to go gray, but she embraces it.
